WHAT:

Miami will serve as the first stop on the national fundraising tour of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and just days after its official ground breaking on the Washington Mall. Hosted at the law firm of Bilzin Sumberg, local leaders will gather to raise funds for this new and original museum. The Miami host committee includes local heavy-hitters such as former NBA star Alonzo Mourning; Exxon Mobile Executive Jesse Tyson; and Bilzin Sumberg shareholders Brian Bilzin, John Sumberg, Al Dotson, and Stanley Price. NMAAHC will be the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history and culture. It is scheduled to open in 2015 and will be the 19th of the Smithsonian museums, and the last building constructed on the Washington Mall.

Interviews will be available with all members of the host committee, including 100 Black Men of America National Chairman, Albert Dotson, and former NBA star, Alonzo Mourning. Additionally, Associate Director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, Rex Ellis, and Chief Curator Jacquelyn Serwer will be present to speak about the museums unique features and significance.
