Mindy A. Mora Addresses Florida Bar's Bankruptcy Judicial Liaison Committee Of The Business Law Section

Press Release
August 16, 2006

Miami, Florida, August 16, 2006 Mindy A. Mora, a Partner in the Restructuring & Bankruptcy Group at Bilzin Sumberg, addressed the Bankruptcy Judicial Liaison Committee of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar on August 10th.

In her talk, Ms. Mora addressed the enhanced disclosure requirements for creditors committees as a result of the recent amendments to the Bankruptcy Code and the likely effects it will have on chapter 11 bankruptcy cases.

"The new requirements lack clarity, and this will likely result in creditors committees seeking guidance from the Bankruptcy Courts in order to ensure that adequate information is being provided to creditors," explained Ms. Mora.

"Courts will need to determine, on a case by case basis, what constitutes adequate disclosure. With presentations such as mine, the Florida Bar is alerting attorneys that the appropriate level of disclosure by creditors committee counsel must be addressed in future chapter 11 cases," she added.

Ms. Mora focuses her practice on creditors rights, workouts, bankruptcy and commercial loan transactions. In addition to her extensive involvement in the development of Florida's commercial laws, she has represented creditors and other parties in several high-profile bankruptcy and restructuring cases, including SunCruz Casinos, Viasource Communications, Supra Telecom, and USA Floral.

Mora currently serves on the Executive Council of the Business Law Section of the Florida Bar. In addition, she serves on the Legislative Committee and the Bankruptcy/UCC Committee of that section.
