Bilzin Sumberg Receives Benchmark Litigation's National Award, "Antitrust Firm of the Year - South"
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP is pleased to announce that it was named Benchmark Litigation's 2013 "Antitrust Firm of the Year – South" in recognition of the firm's work on some of the most complex, high-stakes antitrust cases in the United States.
Bilzin Sumberg was also a finalist for Benchmark Litigation's "Regional Impact Case of the Year", awarded to five cases across the country for their profound effect on the business, financial or legislative climate of their home jurisdictions. Litigation Partners Robert W. Turken, Scott N. Wagner and their team were nominated for their recent work in the prosecution of claims of the bankruptcy estate of All American Semiconductor against the major worldwide manufacturers of DRAM computer chips for violation of federal antitrust laws. Allegations against the DRAM suppliers included conspiracy to control production capacity, raise prices or slow their decline, allocate customers, and overcharge DRAM customers, which caused All American damages in excess of $100 million.
Bilzin Sumberg received the Antitrust title for the team's current involvement in one of the largest antitrust litigations ever in the United States. The Bilzin Sumberg antitrust team represents primary opt-out plaintiffs in the precedent-setting LCD price fixing lawsuit. Collectively, our clients are seeking damages of over $1 billion. Mr. Turken and Mr. Wagner represent two electronic distributors in the prosecution of claims against the major worldwide manufacturers of TFT-LCD panels. Our clients allege that the TFT-LCD manufacturers conspired to control production capacity, raise prices or slow their decline and/or allocate customers of TFT-LCD panels in violation of federal and Florida and California state antitrust and unfair ad deceptive trade practice laws. This multi-district litigation is pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
Mr. Turken and Mr. Wagner are assisted in the LCD price fixing lawsuit by Bilzin attorneys Sacha Boegem, Lori Lustrin, Wendy Polit, Gene Polyak, and Kathryn DeMarco.
In Benchmark Litigation's 2013 edition, Bilzin Sumberg received top rankings as a "Highly Recommended Local Litigation Firm." Its sibling publication, Benchmark Appellate, also ranked the firm as a "Highly Recommended" Eleventh Circuit Litigation Firm in Florida.
