Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod is pleased to announce Scott L. Baena has been elected Chair-Elect of The Florida Board of Bar Examiners for 2017- 2018. In November 2018, Scott will become Chair of the Board for 2018 - 2019.
The Board of Bar Examiners is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Florida and is responsible for coordinating and supervising bar admission in the State of Florida.
As a Founding Partner of Bilzin Sumberg, Scott has counseled high-visibility clients in some of the largest and most complex bankruptcy proceedings throughout the country. As Senior Counsel to the Firm, Scott plays a senior role in bankruptcy and restructuring matters and also oversees several dynamic firm-wide initiatives including the Firm's client satisfaction program, and business and professional development programs.
Scott has served The Florida Bar in numerous roles, including service as Chair of the Bankruptcy/Uniform Commercial Code Committee; Chair of the Business Law Section; member of the Board of Governors; and board member of The Florida Bar Foundation.
Scott was the recipient of the Anti-Defamation League's 2017 Jurisprudence Award, and The Daily Business Review's Most Effective Lawyer Bankruptcy. He is listed among Florida Trend's Legal Elite Hall of Fame, and Florida Super Lawyers Top 100 Florida Super Lawyers.
Scott is a Director of Legal Services of Greater Miami; a Tocqueville Society Member of United Way of Miami-Dade; and a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
