Knight Frank Releases 2014 Wealth Report and Global Cities Survey

Miami and New York are the only North American cities to make the top ten list in a recent survey of the most important global cities to the world’s wealthy.

The Wealth Report, issued annually by London-based real estate consultancy Knight Frank, tracks performance of prime properties in the world’s most sought-after international locations. The Wealth Report includes the Global Cities Survey which ranks cities based on four factors: Economic Activity, Quality of Life, Knowledge & Influence and Political Power, as well as taking into account the number of ultra-high net worth individuals (UHNWIs) who call each city home.

Miami, number seven on the top ten list, outranks every other city in the Western Hemisphere with the exception of second-ranked New York. Miami outperformed Paris, Beijing and Dubai. The Global Cities Survey predicts that Miami will remain in the top ten for at least the next decade. New York and London will continue to vie for the top two spots over the next ten years.

Not surprisingly, Miami ranked 4th in quality of life, likely due to its subtropical climate and stunning vistas. It ranked 9th in economic activity, 8th in political power, and 10th in knowledge and influence.
