Q & A
In what way do you approach cases that is particularly helpful in the matters you handle?
I take a strategic approach to the matters that I handle, and make sure to always keep context of the client’s overall business objectives. This requires going beyond “winning” a particular motion, or step, in the litigation, to offering practical and innovative advice that may avoid a trial or legal exposure altogether. In this vein, I take pride in understanding the clients’ business as part of my counsel.
How has your time as a law clerk shaped your current practice?
During my federal clerkship, I received a first-hand look at the best practices for arguing and winning dispositive cases before a trial judge. I understand what makes an argument compelling, how trial judges and clerks analyze different substantive and procedural issues, and which issues may concern trial judges for appeal. My background as a law clerk aids my analysis of each client’s case, because it provides me with a “big-picture” perspective of how a matter may play out, whether on the facts of the case or how it is argued.
