As part of the Corporate & Finance Group, Sanika supports clients on intellectual property and corporate governance matters. Her intellectual property practice covers trademark advice, licensing agreements, and development and production agreements, oftentimes for clients operating in the entertainment and media industries. As part of her corporate governance practice, she regularly provides input to a wide range of critical agreements and policies, including shareholder agreements, consent agreements, employment contracts, and bylaws.

Q & A

What attracted you to practice corporate law?

The diversity of industries from which clients hail keeps the work interesting because it requires me to understand their various operating environments in order to render tailored corporate counsel. A licensing agreement in the entertainment industry, for example, will present a separate set of issues than a licensing agreement for a goods retailer. At the same time, that broad exposure to corporate legal issues in different business sectors often translates into nuanced insights that can be applied across different client types.

What is something about Bilzin Sumberg that you particularly value?

Bilzin Sumberg places a strong emphasis on mentorship and training, which has been enormously helpful in building the skills that clients consider critical for their matters. The firm also places a premium on cross-collaboration between practice areas, where a client may have multifaceted needs for a complex matter. I find that such mentorship-focused professional development and robust cross-collaboration with other practice groups strengthens my ability to tackle the sophisticated corporate matters that clients bring to the firm.
