Attorney Represents Concessions Miami as They Win Miami International Airport Contract for Food Concessions

Press Release
March 10, 2006

Miami, Florida, March 10, 2006 Bilzin Sumberg represented and led Concessions Miami, an affiliate of Concessions International, LLC in winning the competitive RFP bid award for food concession services at Miami International Airport.

On March 1, 2005, Miami International Airport issued an RFP for the financing, designing and constructing, subleasing, managing, operating and maintaining quality foodservice location for two separate terminals (North and South terminals) at the Airport. A total of six food concession entities submitted responses to the RFP. The same company could bid on both terminals, but could not win both contracts.

Bilzin Sumberg assisted Concessions Miami throughout the RFP process and on February 8, 2006, the Miami Dade County Commission voted unanimously to award the bid. Concessions Miami was the highest qualified bidder for both the North and South terminals of the airport. Since they could only be awarded one, they chose the South terminal contract.

"We are very pleased to have achieved this successful outcome for our client," stated Albert E. Dotson, Jr., Partner in the firm's Land Use & Government Relations Group. "This was a highly competitive and complex procurement for one of Miami-Dade County's premier assets."

Concessions Miami joint ventured on the project with the Hispanic entity Las Vegas Restaurant II Corporation. Both are minority-owned businesses, and together they won the bid which was not designated as a minority set-aside.

"Bilzin Sumberg provided a winning blueprint of strategies to help us navigate through the political process, RFP response and the presentation before the Miami Dade County Commission," stated Anthony Joseph, president of Concessions International. "We are excited about making our mark here in South Florida."

Concessions International, a minority-owned and operated company, is the third largest food and beverage airport concessions company in the U.S. The firm operates 26 facilities in the Atlanta airport, including Houlihans, Wendys, the Buckhead Marketplace, Dominos and Wall St. It also runs facilities at 11 other airports, including ones in Denver, Orlando and St. Thomas.
