Three Attorneys Win Daily Business Review's Top Dealmakers 2015 Award
MIAMI, FL - Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP is pleased to announce that three of its attorneys were named by Daily Business Review (DBR) as "Top Dealmakers of the Year" in South Florida. The annual awards recognize those who handled the largest and most complex deals in 2014.
Corporate Partner and Practice Group Chair Alan D. Axelrod, Real Estate Partner Martin A. Schwartz and Corporate Associate R. Stephen Sandiford won in the Retail category for their representation of Miami Design District Associates, LLC (MDDA), a partnership between visionary developer Craig Robins and L Real Estate, a private equity fund focused on luxury real estate investment.
With the assistance of Bilzin Sumberg's attorneys, the $280 million sale of a minority equity interest in the Miami Design District to a joint venture between General Growth Properties and Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp. was closed in September 2014. Through a collaborative effort with all parties, the team was able to negotiate the purchase agreement and the governance of the joint venture necessary to complete the transaction on terms acceptable to all parties.
DBR editors selected winners in various categories based on complexity and size of the deals, how instrumental the nominees were in making them happen, and how the outcome benefited the dealmaker's client. DBR described the winners as "overachievers at law firms, brokerages and companies who are making names for themselves as go-to professionals."
