Miami, FL -- Bilzin Sumberg is proud to be the recipient of the July 2020 Champion Award awarded by Year Up South Florida, a nonprofit workforce development program for motivated and talented young adults.
The Champion Award recognizes an individual or organization that has continually advocated for Year Up students by connecting them with resources and supporting Year Up in closing the opportunity divide.
Bilzin Sumberg's partnership with Year Up began in early 2019, as part of its commitment to create a more diverse legal industry. Through this partnership, the firm is supporting Year Up in identifying opportunities to provide interns with an enriching work experience that introduces them to the legal profession and related support work as possible career paths, while also expanding and diversifying the firm's talent pool.
"We are honored to receive this recognition and proud to have some Year Up students as part of our team," said Albert E. Dotson, Jr., Bilzin Sumberg's Managing Partner. "Year Up interns have made us a better firm; they have given us insight into new ways of thinking that enhance our client services every single day. We trust that we have been able to provide them with tools for the future and expect great things to come."
Bilzin Sumberg strives for diversity in the legal industry. The firm's Diversity Committee is constantly working to improve the culture of inclusion by providing education to promote understanding and inclusion, and perpetuating a welcoming work environment. Bilzin Sumberg is involved in many programs, like Year Up and Street Law, which promote diverse recruiting efforts and is working diligently to pave the way for the next generation of attorneys emerging from these programs.
