As Managing Partner of Bilzin Sumberg, Al oversees the firm's operations, leveraging innovative technology, and focusing on a multidisciplinary approach to push the envelope of optimizing client engagement and results. As a practitioner, Al is nationally recognized for his work on government contracts and public-private partnerships (P3). He sits on the boards of 100 Black Men of America, Miami-Dade Beacon Council, and The Orange Bowl Committee.
A veteran of South Florida’s real estate industry, John has practiced in the area of commercial real estate for over 45 years, over which time he has been instrumental in shaping deals that have transformed South Florida’s landscape. Prior to becoming Chairman in 2019, John served as Bilzin Sumberg’s founding Managing Partner for over 20 years, transforming the Miami-based firm into a nationally recognized regional powerhouse, active across Florida. John’s locally and nationally recognized practice is matched by his wide-ranging community involvement, most notably his commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable community members. He is an active member of the boards of United Way of Miami-Dade, Sundari Foundation Lotus House Women's Shelter, University of Miami School of Architecture Master in Real Estate Development + Urbanism, and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
