COVID-19 Taskforce Recognized in the 2020 National Law Journal's list of Crisis Leadership Trailblazers
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is proud to announce that the members of its COVID-19 Taskforce were named in the 2020 National Law Journal's list of Crisis Leadership Trailblazers, recognizing individuals who launched new initiatives through times of crisis.
As one of Florida’s preeminent commercial law firms, Bilzin Sumberg has been counseling clients across a range of practices, including real estate, domestic and international tax and wealth, estate planning, construction law, financial services, and corporate restructuring, since the onset of the COVID-19 health crisis.
The Taskforce is comprised of Litigation Partner, Melissa Pallett-Vasquez; Tax and Wealth Planning Partner, Mildred Gómez; Land Development and Government Relation Partner, Sara B. Herald and Corporate Partner, José Sariego. The attorneys collaborate across the firm’s practice groups to decipher massive amounts of information related to the virus and send timely updates with the latest news and orders related to the pandemic. The team also hosts webinars and shares blog posts and articles analyzing the challenges and the novel legal issues presented, such as disruption to commercial contracts and potential business liabilities.
"Bilzin Sumberg’s COVID-19 Taskforce was created to offer leadership and share credible information about the impacts of the pandemic, both internally within the firm, and with clients and the community-at-large," said Albert E. Dotson Jr., the firm's Managing Partner. "We are appreciative of this recognition, and more importantly, we are proud to serve our clients and community during these less-than-favorable times."
Bilzin Sumberg has also partnered with outside organizations to offer expertise from industry professionals actively involved with COVID-19 efforts, including John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, United Way of Miami-Dade, and Baptist Health.
The team also helped bring Lawyers for Good Government and Legal Services' COVID-19 initiative to Miami, allowing nonprofits and small businesses to be impacted by COVID-19 to receive free legal advice. The firm shepherd the partnership between Legal Services of Greater Miami and Lawyers for Good Government, which has helped approximately 160 businesses and nonprofits throughout Florida weather the impacts of COVID-19.
