Bilzin Sumberg and United Way Dedicate Day of Service to SSJ Health Foundation
Miami, FL – On March 5, in connection with its Bilzin Sumberg Cares community involvement program, Bilzin Sumberg partnered with United Way of Miami-Dade to support the SSJ Health Foundation in the enhancement and beautification of its affiliated health center in Miami.
Over 140 Bilzin Sumberg attorneys, staff, and their families, along with their counterparts at United Way, gathered at the St. John Bosco Clinic (SJBC) to learn about the clinic’s mission to provide basic primary healthcare to underserved and uninsured individuals in Miami-Dade County. The volunteers then broke out into small groups to paint four patient rooms, three offices, the clinic’s lobby and breakroom. Volunteers also built a picnic table, 20 chairs, and planted 30 plants around the property for the staff to enjoy.

Since 1992, the SSJ Health Foundation has supported the St. John Bosco Clinic to serve children and adults without access to healthcare. As a free clinic serving individuals in Miami-Dade County who are uninsured and living below the 200% Federal Poverty Level, St. John Bosco Clinic strives to keep individuals healthy at the community level without having to seek emergency room care when conditions that can be managed are left untreated and complications arise. In an average year, SJBC serves approximately 1,200 individuals, offers 5,000 medical visits at the clinic, has approximately 900 cancer screenings performed, plus an additional 500 visits offered by volunteer specialists in the community.
