Press Release
June 20, 2023

Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce that Real Estate Partner Sara Barli Herald was selected as a finalist for Chambers Diversity & Inclusion’s Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year award. The highly competitive award recognizes a U.S. attorney who demonstrates an extraordinary degree of dedication to pro bono work locally or globally. Contenders for the award from across the country are judged by five criteria in regards to their pro bono representations: breadth, commitment, impact, advancement of diversity and inclusion, and originality.

Sara was shortlisted for Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year because of her extensive engagement with a wide span of local non-profit organizations and vulnerable individuals over 2022. Such organizations range from those serving the needs of underserved youth, homeless women and children, and adults with autism, to ones that are dedicated to preserving Miami’s rich black history, among others. In each case, Sara’s real estate counsel, corporate counsel, and advocacy for these organizations and individuals were critical in supporting their missions, expanding the scope of their work, and safeguarding their interests.

Sara’s versatile practice spans public-private partnerships, affordable housing and tax credit, real estate, banking, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate reorganizations. Over the past two decades, she has been committed to optimizing companies and advancing communities with vision and leadership – working across the for-profit, non-profit, and public sectors. While representing a range of clients, Sara is deeply passionate about her pro bono work, particularly as it relates to supporting the life-changing work of non-profit organizations committed to effectuating systemic change for marginalized communities and individuals to help actualize the potential of these communities and individuals.
