Bilzin Sumberg’s Albert E. Dotson, Jr. Selected as Inductee for YWCA South Florida’s First But Not The Last Honor
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce that Managing Partner Albert E. Dotson, Jr. has been selected as one of only seven 2023 Inductees for YWCA South Florida’s prestigious First But Not The Last honor. The First But Not The Last ceremony, held on September 23, 2023, celebrates the achievements of trailblazing leaders in South Florida who have broken barriers in their respective industries. In addition to this recognition, Al is also the 2023 recipient of YWCA’s Jason Jenkins Man-Kind Award, an honor given to only one man a year for their outstanding community leadership.
Passionate about community service, Al has led and been actively involved on the boards of numerous organizations fostering business growth and economic development in South Florida, local institutions of higher learning, and organizations that serve vulnerable community members. Al has served as an active member and as part of the leadership of 100 Black Men of America, an international mentoring organization whose goal is to educate and empower African-American children and teens. He is also a proud member of the Orange Bowl Committee for which he served as the second Black president of the organization, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Baptist Health South Florida boards, Boy Scouts of America, and Miami Dade Beacon Council.

Al’s extensive list of awards and accolades reflects both his professional accomplishments and his tireless service to the legal profession and wider community. He is named an Eminent Practitioner by leading legal directory Chambers USA, in addition to being recently named as one of Florida's Most Influential Business Leaders by Florida Trend's Florida 500 (2020), and as one of the Top 250 Power Leaders of South Florida by South Florida Business Journal (2022), among other recognitions.
