Mildred Gomez and Kelly Melchiondo Named as Bilzin Sumberg’s 2024 Mentors of the Year
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce that Tax and Private Wealth Partner Mildred Gomez and Construction Law and Litigation Partner Kelly Ruane Melchiondo have been selected as the firm’s 2024 Mentors of the Year, in recognition for their outstanding commitment to training, coaching, and mentoring junior attorneys at the firm.

The 2024 Mentor of the Year Award constitutes the firm’s celebration of mentorship at Bilzin Sumberg – now in its third year - which was conceived to strengthen the emphasis that the firm places on mentorship activities, and more generally, to recognize the vital role that mentorship plays in preparing attorneys for improving client service and furthering professional development beyond the academic training received at law schools.
Mildred and Kelly’s mentees emphasize that they feel that Mildred and Kelly truly root for them in their success, that they are invested in them through thick-and-thin. In addition to imparting professional skills and best practices to junior attorneys at the firm through their mentorship, Mildred and Kelly actively volunteer their time and experience to community organizations that foster the development and growth of local youth. Building on her pre-law career as a public school teacher, Mildred is an active member of the Board of Directors of Our Pride Academy, which works to meet the unique academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of people with developmental disabilities. Kelly serves on the Board of Miami Children's Museum and is deeply involved in its Executive Committee, helping guide its widely recognized educational, artistic, and cultural programs.
