James W. Shindell Named Chair Of Real Estate Group
Miami, Florida, November 10, 2005 Bilzin Sumberg announced today that James W. Shindell, partner, has been named Chair of the firm's Real Estate Group. In this role, Mr. Shindell will direct the Group's strategic planning and manage the 26-member team.
John C. Sumberg, who previously served as both the Chair of the Real Estate Group and Managing Partner will now predominately focus on the vision and management of the firm and maintain his practice. Due to the firm's tremendous growth in 2005; including an increase of over 30% in the number of practicing attorneys, the responsibilities in managing the firm and leading the strategic vision have accelerated. The firm turned to Jim to fill the role of the practice group chair.
"Jim is a brilliant attorney and was a logical choice as the next chair of the practice group," stated Mr. Sumberg. "He is a proven leader in the real estate arena with an extensive track record of experience and success in commercial real estate law. Mr. Shindell handles all aspects of general commercial real estate and real estate finance transactions. He has represented large investment banking houses in debt and equity financing matters, including highly leveraged and mezzanine loans that have been secured by real estate or interests in the borrower. An active volunteer in the South Florida community, Mr. Shindell is a board member of Habitat for Humanity Restore, Inc. He is a former President and Board Member of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami, and is still an active volunteer. He has also served on the Vestry of St. Philips Episcopal Church.
