Kelly Ruane Melchiondo Honored with Connect CRE’s Lawyers in Real Estate Award
Miami, FL - Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce Kelly Ruane Melchiondo, Construction Law and Litigation Partner, has been honored as one of Connect CRE’s 2024 Lawyers in Real Estate for the Florida region. The competitive nationwide awards process looks at highly accomplished attorneys from a wide array of practices and geographies. It honors the achievements of those who have made significant impacts through both their practice in real estate-related matters and the contributions they have made as members of the industry and the community. Other Bilzin Sumberg awardees include Chair of Real Estate & Finance Suzanne M. Amaducci (2022), Real Estate Partner Alexandra Lehson (2021), and Land Development & Government Relations Practice Group Leader Javier F. Aviñó (2020). In 2021, Construction Practice Group Leader Joy Spillis Lundeen won Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate award.
Kelly’s practice focuses on complex litigation, in both jury and non-jury trials, of claims involving construction and design defects, construction contract claims, and product liability at the trial and appellate levels in federal and state courts. As part of her practice, she represents Florida real estate owners and developers in high profile real estate disputes involving high value and high visibility assets. Another area of real estate law that Kelly is heavily involved in is the intersection of construction law and data privacy – an increasingly salient topic as the construction industry continues to shift toward utilizing available technology and Cloud-based data storage and file sharing on all phases of projects.
Outside of the courtroom, Kelly is active in organizations that give back to the South Florida community. Kelly serves as Vice President of the Miami Children’s Museum Board of Directors; as a member of the Building Committee for Branches, a local South Florida organization that provides life-changing opportunities to hardworking families and their children to help them break the cycle of generational poverty; and is a past chairwoman of the board at City Theatre, a professional nonprofit theatre dedicated to the development of new short plays.
Kelly has been recognized by legal publications including The Best Lawyers in America and South Florida Legal Guide.
