Bilzin Sumberg Launches Going Green Initiative In Conjunction With Earth Day
Miami, Florida, April 16, 2008 The law firm of Bilzin Sumberg announced that its "Going Green" initiative will be launched in conjunction with Earth Week.
To kick off the Going Green program, Bilzin Sumberg will be hosting an Earth Day assembly at Southside Elementary Museums Magnet School, the beneficiary of Bilzin Sumberg Cares year round support. The assembly will include a presentation by the Miami MetroZoo, teaching students about the importance of protecting the environment. Other events throughout the week include a cocktail reception featuring a speaker from Miller-Legg regarding eco-friendly practices for home and office, and a Going Green Information Fair at the firm.
This top-down initiative is an effort by the firm's management to increase environmentally-responsible and sustainable business practices, and includes the participation in all levels of the firm. Long term plans include energy and water conservation, paper reduction, environmentally conscious purchasing, and the reduction of green house gases.
Additionally, several Bilzin Sumberg attorneys are currently obtaining Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. LEED is a nationally renowned standard for the design, construction and operation of environmentally-efficient buildings. Those certified as Accredited Professionals demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of LEED requirements and processes and overall green construction practices.
