Press Release
February 18, 2016
MIAMI, FL – On February 16-17, 2016, the second annual P3 Hub South returned to Miami. Following the conference’s tremendous success in 2015 and a fruitful year with the South of the U.S., proving to be one of the largest areas of P3 growth in the country, P3 Bulletin - with Bilzin Sumberg as Lead Sponsor of the conference - brought together mayors, procurers, investors and advisors to debate the future of P3 in the region with a series of interactive panel discussions covering the latest projects.

A series of roundtables with key public sector officials from the region were held at Bilzin Sumberg on Tuesday, February 16 with Bilzin Sumberg Land Development and Government Relations Practice Group Leader, Albert E. Dotson Jr. serving as Chair. The intimate session allowed each public official to rotate around the various tables, answering questions and discussing P3 opportunities for the future. They discussed how their private sector partners can better assist in procurement and what kind of partnerships they are seeking.

The main conference was held at the Conrad Hotel on February 17, where Eric Singer, Bilzin Sumberg/Visiting Fellow, New York University, served as a speaker of the session "The Political Landscape in the South." Local leaders shared their views on P3 opportunities, challenges, and personal experiences in South Florida’s P3 environment, while other industry leaders addressed the differences between P3s in the southern United States and the rest of the country. Further discussion was had on how to change the political landscape in Florida so that P3s can become a more friendly option for local governments. National P3 industry leaders also shared their insights on topics such as the changing face of infrastructure design and the general infrastructure deficit across the country, opportunities for partnership in the southern region, and why P3 centers are so important for lasting P3 success.

Throughout the day, the conference featured several panels on a variety topics including "Public-Private Partnerships and Centers of Excellence," “The New Frontier – Telecommunications and Broadband P3s,” "Transport – P3s Beyond Highways," "Design – Innovation – Environment," and "The Growth and Management of the Local Municipal and Civic Pipeline." During the two-day P3 Hub South event, attendees found themselves at the forefront of the latest deals to hit the market and gained insight as to where opportunities lie ahead.
