Three New Partners Promoted in 2023
Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce that Manuel Gonzalez, Jake Greenberg, and Erin Stafford have been elected as the firm’s newest partners. Effective January 1, 2023, they became partners across their respective practice groups, which include Corporate & Finance, Litigation, and Real Estate.

Manuel Gonzalez focuses his practice on structuring and negotiating commercial real estate transactions on behalf of U.S., European and Latin American owners, developers, funds, and investors, including acquisitions, financings, dispositions and loan restructurings. Manuel regularly advises clients in connection with secured financing transactions, including acquisition, refinancing and construction loans. His practice also incorporates serving as counsel to landlords and tenants in commercial leasing matters. His real estate practice has covered all major asset classes - industrial, multi-family, retail, hospitality and marinas - for transformational deals at the local and national level.
Jake Greenberg has experience counseling clients on the full spectrum of business disputes, with an emphasis on real estate litigation. His expansive practice includes representation of commercial lenders, mortgage companies, sponsors, developers, commercial landlords, and tenants on matters spanning commercial foreclosures, lender liability, promissory note enforcement, loan guarantees, residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), and regulatory compliance matters involving commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). Jake’s unique approach to litigation is rooted in his training as a criminal defense lawyer, understanding that it’s often better to solve the client’s problem by achieving the best outcome possible before having others, such as a judge or jury, decide.
Erin Stafford represents publicly traded and privately held companies in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, minority investments, leveraged buyouts, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, and other complex corporate transactions. She counsels clients on both the buy and sell side of transactions and throughout all stages of their life cycles. Erin advises clients across multiple industries, including technology, life sciences, financial institutions and consumer, in addition to representing clients on the corporate aspects of large real estate transactions in connection with industrial and commercial assets.
