2022 Healthiest Employers Award

The award stands in line with Bilzin Sumberg's commitment to the health and well-being of its employees, and follows on the firm’s being named one of Healthiest Employers' Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America in 2020. As part of its award process, Healthiest Employers, the company that determines the rankings, evaluates employers according to six categories related to workplace health: culture and leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communications and marketing, programming and interventions, and reporting and analytics.
Approached by the South Florida Business Journal regarding Bilzin Sumberg’s recognition as the healthiest mid-sized employer in the region, Jackie Gallego, the firm’s Chief Human Resources Officer, emphasized that, “Bilzin Sumberg’s goal has always been to engage employees in a holistic approach to wellness in a convenient and accessible way. Gallego highlighted the adoption of virtual wellness tools for employees to mitigate any adverse lifestyle effects from the sedentary nature of pandemic-induced remote work, such as one-on-one guided stretching sessions, webinars on how to boost your immune system, one year of free access to the Peloton and Apple Fitness+ apps, and Weight Watchers’ digital program. Mental health has also been a priority for the firm, offering its employees an internal webpage with articles, hotlines, and other mental health resources.
Among its more innovative initiatives, Bilzin Sumberg also implemented a nine-week Body Transformation Challenge for those interested in losing weight or transforming their body through weekly 30-minute workshops that focused on nutrition and fitness. Each participant was assigned a health coach to keep them motivated throughout the challenge, with employees who saw the most positive changes recognized by the firm.
