Miami, FL – Bilzin Sumberg is pleased to announce that Stanley Price, founding member of Bilzin Sumberg and Chair of the firm’s Land Development & Government Relations Group, has been selected for Daily Business Review’s (DBR) 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award. Presented by the widely read legal and business news publication, the highly prestigious award recognizes individuals who have had a significant impact on the practice of law in Florida over a notable legal career.

The recognition takes into account Stan’s decades’ long land development and government relations practice, during which he served as a pillar of the South Florida legal community, contributing invaluably to the region’s growth and development. Since his early career as an Assistant County attorney for Miami-Dade County, Stan has worked at the forefront of Florida land use law, often referred to as the guru of land use and zoning law. As the principal draftsman of landmark legislation on comprehensive planning, environmental protection, mass transit, and historic preservation, he transformed visionary ideas into pragmatic programs that have enhanced life in Miami-Dade County.

In the 1970s, Stan drafted county ordinances laying the groundwork for Miami-Dade's transformation into an international urban powerhouse, including Miami's first historic preservation ordinance, which was created to preserve Miami Beach's landmark art deco district. He also drafted planning and zoning ordinances creating Miami's Metrorail, the Urban Development Boundary that was the catalyst for developing Miami's urban skyline, and the East Everglades Area of Critical Environmental Concern, which regulates development to protect the Biscayne Aquifer, the sole source of Miami-Dade County's drinking water.

Throughout the course of his esteemed career, Stan has represented some of the largest developers in the country on projects that have shaped South Florida. His successful land development practice is matched by his passion for serving local communities and leadership of key industry associations. He has had a profound impact, in particular, on South Florida’s African American communities. In 2019, Stan successfully led Richmond Heights, the first community of its kind built exclusively for African American veterans of World War II, to be recognized as one of the National Park Services’ National Register of Historic Places.

For more than a decade Stan has served as general counsel on the Board of Directors of the Builders Association of South Florida (BASF). He is also Chair of the Local Policy Council for Floridians for Smarter Growth, a member of the Latin Builders Association, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Florida Atlantic Builders Association. Stan has been honored for his dedication to the industry by being inducted into the BASF Hall of Fame for a lifetime of achievement, and was awarded the Al Singer Spirit of the Industry Award in recognition of his impactful career.
